- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece ginger, grated
- 1 pound ground meat (beef, lamb, or chicken)
- 2 potatoes, peeled and diced
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds until fragrant.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in garlic and grated ginger; cook for about a minute until aromatic.
- Add the ground meat to the pot and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
- Mix in diced potatoes, chopped tomatoes, and all the spices. Stir everything together until well combined.
- Pour in enough water to cover the mixture and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat, cover the pot, and let it simmer until the potatoes are tender, about 20 minutes.
- Adjust seasoning to taste and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
Notes
Serve hot with rice or naan, and consider adding vegetables like peas or carrots for extra nutrition.
