Description

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece ginger, grated
  • 1 pound ground meat (beef, lamb, or chicken)
  • 2 potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown, stirring occasionally.
  4. Stir in garlic and grated ginger; cook for about a minute until aromatic.
  5. Add the ground meat to the pot and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  6. Mix in diced potatoes, chopped tomatoes, and all the spices. Stir everything together until well combined.
  7. Pour in enough water to cover the mixture and bring to a boil.
  8. Reduce heat, cover the pot, and let it simmer until the potatoes are tender, about 20 minutes.
  9. Adjust seasoning to taste and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.

Notes

Serve hot with rice or naan, and consider adding vegetables like peas or carrots for extra nutrition.
