Description

A delightful and satisfying dish combining whole wheat flour, potatoes, and spices, perfect as a side dish or enjoyed on its own.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed
  • Oil or ghee for cooking

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the whole wheat flour with water to form a smooth dough. Cover and let it rest for 20 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, mix the mashed potatoes, chopped onion, green chilies, cumin seeds, garam masala, and salt until well combined.
  3. Divide the dough and the potato filling into equal portions. Take one portion of dough and roll it into a small circle.
  4. Place a portion of the potato filling in the center of the rolled-out dough. Fold the edges of the dough over the filling to seal it completely. Roll it out gently into a flat circle.
  5. Heat a tawa or skillet over medium heat and cook the flatbread for about 2-3 minutes on each side, brushing with oil or ghee until golden brown. Serve hot with yogurt or pickles.

Notes

Leftover potatoes can be used, and additional spices can be adjusted to taste. Variations include cheese-stuffed or herb-infused flatbread.
