Description
A classic dessert combining the sweetness of pineapples with a rich butter and brown sugar base, featuring a visually stunning caramelized top.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 can (20 oz) pineapple slices
- Maraschino cherries
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 3 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan well, ensuring that the base and sides are fully coated.
- Melt the butter and pour it into the prepared cake pan. Evenly sprinkle the brown sugar over the melted butter, then arrange the pineapple slices and add a cherry in the center of each slice.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract, then mix into the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Pour the batter over the arranged pineapple slices and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let it cool slightly before inverting onto a plate to serve.
Notes
Serve warm or at room temperature, topped with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Store leftovers tightly covered at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
