Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup reserved pecans (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking pan.
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, then stir in the granulated sugar until combined.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, and salt, then gradually add to the wet mixture.
  5. Fold in the chopped pecans and spread the brownie batter in the prepared pan.
  6. Mix corn syrup, brown sugar, and reserved pecans, then pour over the brownie batter.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean, then let cool before cutting.

Notes

Allow to cool completely for neat squares. Serve warm or at room temperature with ice cream or caramel sauce.
