Ingredients
Scale
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons orange zest
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 2 teaspoons ground cardamom
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- Granulated sugar for rolling
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream the softened butter until smooth. Add the brown sugar and orange zest, mixing until well combined.
- Beat in the egg, molasses, and vanilla until everything is mixed well. Gradually add the flour, baking soda, salt, and cardamom; mix just until combined. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 120 minutes.
- Roll the chilled dough into balls, coat each ball in granulated sugar, and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 11-13 minutes, or until the edges are set.
Notes
For best flavor, use fresh orange zest. Don’t skip the chilling step to help the cookies maintain their shape.
