- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup lukewarm water
- 1 ⅛ teaspoons instant dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Start by activating the yeast. In a small bowl, dissolve 1 ⅛ teaspoons of instant dry yeast in ¼ cup of lukewarm water along with 1 teaspoon of honey. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes bubbly and fragrant.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the 2 ¼ cups of all-purpose flour and the remaining ½ cup of lukewarm water. Pour in the activated yeast mixture, and gently mix everything together.
- Once your dough is combined, cover the bowl with a damp cloth or plastic wrap. Let it rise in a warm place for about 45 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes, until it has doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). After the dough has risen, gently transfer it onto a floured baking sheet and score the top lightly with a sharp knife.
- Bake for approximately 25 minutes, then lower the temperature to 325°F (160°C) and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes until it turns a gorgeous golden brown.
- Let it cool on a wire rack for at least 15 minutes before slicing.
Notes
For added flavor, experiment with herbs or cheese. Store the bread at room temperature or freeze for longer storage.
