Description

Delightful apple fritters blended with sweetness and warm spices, enveloped in a light, crispy batter, topped with a sweet glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 23 apples (peeled, cored, and diced)
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Prepare ingredients by peeling, coring, and dicing the apples.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat together the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir gently until combined.
  5. Fold in the diced apples.
  6. Heat vegetable oil to 350°F in a heavy-bottomed pot.
  7. Drop heaping tablespoons of the batter into hot oil, frying 3-4 fritters at a time for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  8. Remove cooked fritters with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  9. For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth, then dip or drizzle over warm fritters.

Notes

Ensure oil temperature is correct to avoid greasy fritters. Experiment with spices for different flavors.
