- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2/3 cup corn syrup
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9 inch baking pan.
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in the flour and cocoa powder.
- Press the dough into the bottom of the prepared baking pan. Bake for about 20 minutes until lightly golden.
- In a saucepan, combine sweetened condensed milk, brown sugar, and corn syrup. Cook over medium heat until thickened (about 10 minutes). Pour over the cooled shortbread base.
- Allow the caramel to cool for about 15 minutes. Melt chocolate chips with vanilla in the microwave or double boiler, then pour over caramel layer.
- Chill in the refrigerator until set, about 1-2 hours. Once set, cut into squares and serve.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze for up to three months. Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor.
