Description

A sweet and tangy mango chutney that pairs perfectly with grilled meats, curries, and sandwiches.


Ingredients

  • 2 ripe mangoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine the diced mangoes, finely chopped onions, and sugar.
  2. Add the vinegar to the mixture and stir well.
  3. Mix in the grated ginger, mustard seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer for about 30-40 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat, let cool, and transfer to sterilized jars for storage.

Notes

Store in sterilized glass jars for up to 2-3 weeks. Allow flavors to meld by letting it sit for a few hours or overnight before serving.
