Description

A delightful cake inspired by Earl Grey tea, offering a soft and moist texture with floral notes and sweet vanilla.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon Earl Grey tea leaves
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat the milk until it’s warm but not boiling. Add the Earl Grey tea leaves and steep for about 5 minutes. Strain and set the infused milk aside.
  3. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the steeped tea milk, mixing just until combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Serve with whipped cream or powdered sugar. Pairs well with Earl Grey tea.
