Description

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 2 bell peppers (red and green), sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (14.5 ounces)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Italian seasoning (optional)
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage and cook until browned, breaking it into pieces as it cooks.
  2. Once cooked, remove the sausage and set aside. In the same skillet, add sliced onions and peppers; sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute. Stir in the diced tomatoes and optional Italian seasoning, then return the cooked sausage to the skillet.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover and let simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil if desired.
