  • 115 g unsalted butter, softened
  • 200 g granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1.5 tsp vanilla extract
  • 180 g semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch springform or cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs to the butter mixture one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the ricotta cheese and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips gently.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar if desired, and serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
