Description

A rich and gooey chocolate cake with a self-saucing fudge layer, perfect for dessert lovers.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • Vanilla ice cream (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Stir until well blended.
  3. Add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. Mix until smooth, then pour into the prepared baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the brown sugar and remaining cocoa powder. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter.
  5. Carefully pour boiling water over the batter without stirring.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, until the top is set.
  7. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Best served warm. Can store leftovers in an airtight container for up to two days, or refrigerate for a week.
