Description

Enjoy the delightful flavors of a homemade Sicilian pizza featuring a crispy crust, rich tomato sauce, and gooey cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Toppings of your choice (e.g., pepperoni, bell peppers, olives)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture along with the olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Once the dough has risen, punch it down. Stretch and shape the dough into a greased baking pan.
  6. Spread pizza sauce evenly over the dough. Sprinkle the mozzarella and then add the Parmesan cheese. Top with your favorite ingredients.
  7. Place the pan in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  8. Once out of the oven, let the pizza cool slightly. Slice it into squares and serve hot.

Notes

For best results, use high-quality ingredients and allow the dough enough time to rise.
