Description
Enjoy the delightful flavors of a homemade Sicilian pizza featuring a crispy crust, rich tomato sauce, and gooey cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Toppings of your choice (e.g., pepperoni, bell peppers, olives)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture along with the olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Once the dough has risen, punch it down. Stretch and shape the dough into a greased baking pan.
- Spread pizza sauce evenly over the dough. Sprinkle the mozzarella and then add the Parmesan cheese. Top with your favorite ingredients.
- Place the pan in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- Once out of the oven, let the pizza cool slightly. Slice it into squares and serve hot.
Notes
For best results, use high-quality ingredients and allow the dough enough time to rise.
