Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 orange (zest and juice)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the water, sugar, and freshly squeezed orange juice. Stir gently to mix the ingredients.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar completely.
  3. Once boiling, add the fresh cranberries. Allow the mixture to return to a full boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat, then stir in the orange zest for an extra burst of flavor. Let the sauce cool to room temperature before serving.

Store leftover cranberry sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks or freeze for up to three months.
