Description
A delightful dessert that perfectly blends sweet and tangy flavors with tender apples in rich caramel, all in a flaky crust.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pie crusts
- 6–8 apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce
- 1 tablespoon butter
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Peel, core, and slice the apples. In a large bowl, combine the apple slices with granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Mix until coated.
- Roll out one pie crust and place it in a pie dish. Fill with the apple mixture and drizzle caramel sauce over.
- Dot the top with small pieces of butter. Roll out the second crust and cover the filling. Seal the edges and cut slits on top.
- Bake for 15 minutes at 425°F, then reduce to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 30-35 minutes.
- Allow to cool before serving to help the filling set up properly.
Notes
For the best flavor, use a mixture of tart and sweet apples. Let the pie cool before slicing for neat slices.
