Description

A delightful dessert that perfectly blends sweet and tangy flavors with tender apples in rich caramel, all in a flaky crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pie crusts
  • 68 apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Peel, core, and slice the apples. In a large bowl, combine the apple slices with granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Mix until coated.
  3. Roll out one pie crust and place it in a pie dish. Fill with the apple mixture and drizzle caramel sauce over.
  4. Dot the top with small pieces of butter. Roll out the second crust and cover the filling. Seal the edges and cut slits on top.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes at 425°F, then reduce to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 30-35 minutes.
  6. Allow to cool before serving to help the filling set up properly.

Notes

For the best flavor, use a mixture of tart and sweet apples. Let the pie cool before slicing for neat slices.
