Homemade Calzones

Description

Delightful Italian calzones filled with cheese and your favorite toppings, encased in a crispy crust.


Ingredients

  • Pizza dough
  • Ricotta cheese
  • Mozzarella cheese
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Italian sausage or pepperoni
  • Marinara sauce
  • Olive oil
  • Italian herbs
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface into 6-8 inch circles.
  3. In a bowl, mix ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, sausage or pepperoni with herbs, salt, and pepper.
  4. Place a scoop of filling on one half of each dough circle.
  5. Fold the dough over and press the edges together, crimping with a fork.
  6. Brush tops with olive oil.
  7. Bake on a lined baking sheet for 15-20 minutes until golden.
  8. Serve warm with marinara sauce.

Notes

Ensure dough is at room temperature for ease of rolling. Experiment with cheese for unique flavors.
