Description

A simple and comforting recipe for homemade applesauce that captures the essence of fresh apples. Perfect as a side dish or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 46 apples (such as Granny Smith or Gala)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 12 tablespoons sugar (optional, to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • Lemon juice (optional, for flavor)

Instructions

  1. Peel, core, and slice the apples into small chunks.
  2. In a large pot, combine the sliced apples with 1/2 cup of water and bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  3. Cook the apples for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until soft and tender.
  4. Mash the apples for a chunky texture or blend for a smoother consistency. Sweeten with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice if desired, then serve warm or store in the fridge.

Notes

Experiment with different apple varieties for different flavor profiles. It’s also great to add vanilla extract or keep the skins on for added nutrients.
