- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup almond milk (or any plant milk)
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a heart-shaped cake pan.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, combine the almond milk, vegetable oil, apple cider vinegar, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool for a few minutes before removing it from the pan and letting it cool completely on a wire rack.
Notes
This cake can be garnished with vegan frosting, fresh berries, or drizzled with chocolate sauce. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days at room temperature, or refrigerate for up to a week.
