- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup honey or maple syrup
- 1/4 cup coconut oil, melted
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

- Zest of 1 orange
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional: dark chocolate chips for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a round cake pan.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix together the melted coconut oil, honey (or maple syrup), orange juice, orange zest, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Optional: sprinkle with dark chocolate chips before serving.
