Description
Delicious and fluffy hamburger buns that are perfect for any meal, especially when serving up juicy burgers.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- Sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt.
- Heat the milk, water, and melted butter over low heat until warm but not boiling, then add to the flour mixture with the egg and stir until just combined.
- Gradually add the remaining flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Punch down the risen dough, divide it into 8 equal pieces, and shape each into a smooth ball on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Cover the shaped buns and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C), brush the tops of the buns with melted butter, sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired, and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Let the buns cool on a wire rack before serving.
