Description

Delicious and fluffy hamburger buns that are perfect for any meal, especially when serving up juicy burgers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • Sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. Heat the milk, water, and melted butter over low heat until warm but not boiling, then add to the flour mixture with the egg and stir until just combined.
  3. Gradually add the remaining flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Punch down the risen dough, divide it into 8 equal pieces, and shape each into a smooth ball on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. Cover the shaped buns and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C), brush the tops of the buns with melted butter, sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired, and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Let the buns cool on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

Store buns in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or freeze them for up to 3 months.
