- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix warm milk with yeast and let it sit until bubbly, about 5-10 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Mix well before adding the yeast mixture and melted butter.
- Add the yeast mixture and melted butter to the dry ingredients, mix well, then stir in the eggs until the mixture forms a dough. Knead for about 5-8 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Roll the dough out on a floured surface into a rectangle and spread softened butter over it.
- Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl, and sprinkle over the buttered dough.
- Roll the dough tightly from one end to the other, then cut into slices about 1-1.5 inches wide.
- Place slices in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- For the icing, mix powdered sugar and milk until smooth and drizzle over warm rolls.
Notes
Serve warm, pairs well with coffee or milk, and can be stored wrapped at room temperature for up to 2 days.
