A savory-sweet focaccia featuring fresh figs and tangy blue cheese, perfect as an appetizer or side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup fresh figs, halved
  • 1/2 cup blue cheese, crumbled
  • Fresh rosemary, for garnish
  • Additional olive oil for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Mix warm water with yeast and sugar, and let it sit until frothy, about 10 minutes.
  2. Combine the flour and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the well in the flour, and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  7. Press fig halves and blue cheese into the risen dough, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with rosemary and coarse sea salt.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before cutting into pieces and serving.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature. Pairs beautifully with a charcuterie board or a light salad.
