Description

A delightful Cuban classic combining ground beef with vegetables, spices, and a hint of sweetness from raisins.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup green olives, sliced
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
  2. Add the chopped onions and bell peppers to the skillet. Sauté until they soften, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula.
  5. Mix in the diced tomatoes, sliced olives, raisins, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  6. Let the mixture simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  7. Serve hot with rice or tortillas for a complete meal.

Notes

Consider adding a diced jalapeño for heat or using lentils for a vegetarian version.
