A delightful Cuban classic combining ground beef with vegetables, spices, and a hint of sweetness from raisins.
Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup green olives, sliced
- 1/4 cup raisins
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
- Add the chopped onions and bell peppers to the skillet. Sauté until they soften, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula.
- Mix in the diced tomatoes, sliced olives, raisins, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Let the mixture simmer for 15-20 minutes.
- Serve hot with rice or tortillas for a complete meal.
Notes
Consider adding a diced jalapeño for heat or using lentils for a vegetarian version.
