Description

A creamy, aromatic butter chicken recipe that’s easy to make and perfect for busy weeknights or cozy dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish
  • Cooked rice or naan for serving

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onions and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and ginger, cook until fragrant, roughly 1 minute.
  4. Add chicken pieces and cook until browned on all sides, approximately 5-7 minutes.
  5. Mix in crushed tomatoes, garam masala, cumin, paprika, and salt; bring to a gentle simmer.
  6. Reduce heat, stir in heavy cream, and cook for 10-15 minutes until the sauce thickens and chicken is fully cooked.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan.

Notes

For a milder version, reduce the spices; for a vegetarian option, replace chicken with paneer or chickpeas.
