Description
A classic Italian-American dish combining tender chicken with a rich sauce from Marsala wine and mushrooms, perfect for weeknight dinners or special gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large chicken breasts
- Olive oil
- Butter
- Cremini mushrooms (sliced)
- Garlic (minced)
- Marsala wine
- Heavy cream
Instructions
- Cut the chicken breasts in half lengthwise and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Dredge in flour, shaking off excess.
- Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken cutlets and sear for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
- Add remaining butter to the skillet, then add sliced mushrooms and sauté for 3-5 minutes until browned and tender.
- Stir in minced garlic and pour in Marsala wine. Simmer for 2-3 minutes. Add heavy cream and reserved chicken, cooking for an additional 4-5 minutes until heated through and sauce thickens.
Notes
For a richer taste, consider using chicken thighs. Can substitute Marsala wine with dry sherry or chicken broth with vinegar. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
