Description

A delightful Italian starter featuring juicy tomatoes, aromatic garlic, and fresh basil on crispy baguette slices.


Ingredients

  • 1 baguette
  • 2 cups fresh tomatoes, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice the baguette into 1/2 inch slices and arrange them on a baking sheet.
  2. Brush the slices generously with olive oil and toast in the oven for 5-7 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  3. In a bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, minced garlic, chopped basil, balsamic vinegar, remaining olive oil, salt, and pepper. Toss gently until mixed.
  4. Spoon the tomato mixture onto the toasted baguette slices and serve immediately.

Notes

Best to assemble just before serving for optimal texture. Store the tomato mixture separately to keep the bread crispy.
