Description
Transform your morning routine with this gourmet breakfast bake featuring flaky croissants and rich chocolate in a creamy custard.
Ingredients
Scale
- 5 large croissants (preferably day-old), cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 cups whole milk
- 4 large eggs
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
- Fresh berries or whipped cream, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Place the croissant pieces evenly in the baking dish, and sprinkle chocolate chips over and between the layers.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the whole milk, eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
- Pour the custard mixture over the croissants. Gently press down to soak them.
- Let the mixture sit for 10–15 minutes to absorb the custard.
- Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes, or until golden brown and set.
- Let cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar and serving warm with berries or whipped cream.
Notes
Use day-old croissants for the best texture. You can also add nuts, dried fruit, or different chocolate types for variety.
