Description

A delightful blend of dark chocolate and orange, these biscotti have a crisp exterior and tender interior, perfect for dunking in coffee.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract and orange zest.
  3. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until combined. Fold in dark chocolate chips and nuts.
  4. Divide the dough in half and form two logs about 12 inches long on the prepared baking sheet. Flatten the tops slightly. Bake for 25-30 minutes until firm. Let cool for about 10 minutes, then slice diagonally into 1-inch thick slices.
  5. Return the slices to the baking sheet and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until crisp.
