- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract and orange zest.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until combined. Fold in dark chocolate chips and nuts.
- Divide the dough in half and form two logs about 12 inches long on the prepared baking sheet. Flatten the tops slightly. Bake for 25-30 minutes until firm. Let cool for about 10 minutes, then slice diagonally into 1-inch thick slices.
- Return the slices to the baking sheet and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until crisp.
