Description

A rich and indulgent cake featuring luscious dark chocolate mousse, perfect for any chocolate lover.


Ingredients

  • 4 oz dark chocolate
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate ganache

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.
  2. Melt the dark chocolate and butter in a double boiler or microwave until smooth.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together sugar and eggs until light and fluffy.
  4. Fold the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture until evenly mixed.
  5. Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder, then fold into the batter gently.
  6. Divide the batter between prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let cakes cool for about 10 minutes in pans, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. For the mousse, whip heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form, then fold in the melted dark chocolate.
  9. Once cakes are cool, layer them with a generous amount of mousse between each layer.
  10. Frost with dark chocolate ganache on top and sides of the cake.
  11. Chill in the refrigerator until set, about 60 minutes, then slice and serve.

Notes

For best results, use high-quality dark chocolate and ensure eggs are at room temperature. Store leftovers in the refrigerator, covered tightly.
