Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the creamed mixture until well combined.
  4. If desired, stir in chocolate chips.
  5. Drop rounded portions of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets, leaving space between them. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until golden around the edges.
  6. Allow to cool on the baking sheets before transferring to wire racks.
