- 2 lbs potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onions and minced garlic, sautéing until the onions are translucent and fragrant.
- Mix together heavy cream, salt, and pepper in a large bowl until well combined.
- Layer in a baking dish with potato slices, the onion and garlic mixture, and sprinkle cheese on top, repeating the layers until all ingredients are used.
- Pour the creamy mixture over the top layer of potatoes. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
Notes
For best flavor, use starchy potatoes like Russets or Yukon Golds. Can be prepared in advance and stored in the refrigerator or freezer.
