Description

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 carrots, finely chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion, carrots, celery, and minced garlic, sautéing for 5-7 minutes until softened.
  3. Add the ground beef and pork, cooking until browned for about 8-10 minutes.
  4. Pour in the red wine, simmer for a few minutes, then stir in the crushed tomatoes and tomato paste, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  5. Reduce heat and let the sauce simmer gently for 30-60 minutes.
  6. Stir in the heavy cream and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
  7. Serve the sauce over pasta or in lasagna, garnished with fresh basil or parsley.
