- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb ground pork
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 carrots, finely chopped
- 2 celery stalks, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 cup red wine
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion, carrots, celery, and minced garlic, sautéing for 5-7 minutes until softened.
- Add the ground beef and pork, cooking until browned for about 8-10 minutes.
- Pour in the red wine, simmer for a few minutes, then stir in the crushed tomatoes and tomato paste, seasoning with salt and pepper.
- Reduce heat and let the sauce simmer gently for 30-60 minutes.
- Stir in the heavy cream and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
- Serve the sauce over pasta or in lasagna, garnished with fresh basil or parsley.
