- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time and then add the vanilla extract.
- Mix flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and salt in another bowl. Gradually mix into wet ingredients, alternating with the milk.
- Spread half of the batter into the prepared baking pan. Blend brown sugar, cinnamon, and nuts in a small bowl, and sprinkle half over the batter. Layer remaining batter and top with remaining mixture.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool for a few minutes before slicing.
Notes
Serve warm or at room temperature, optionally dust with powdered sugar or serve with whipped cream.
