Description

A delightful coffee cake infused with aromatic cinnamon and a crunchy sugar topping, perfect for breakfast or tea time.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time and then add the vanilla extract.
  4. Mix flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and salt in another bowl. Gradually mix into wet ingredients, alternating with the milk.
  5. Spread half of the batter into the prepared baking pan. Blend brown sugar, cinnamon, and nuts in a small bowl, and sprinkle half over the batter. Layer remaining batter and top with remaining mixture.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cake to cool for a few minutes before slicing.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature, optionally dust with powdered sugar or serve with whipped cream.
