Description
A rich and moist chocolate cake enveloped in a velvety ganache, perfect for celebrations or satisfying your sweet tooth.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 ½ cups heavy cream
- 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until smooth. Carefully stir in the boiling water; the batter will be thin.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool for 10 minutes in the pans before removing them to cool completely on a wire rack.
- For the ganache, heat the heavy cream in a saucepan over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate and let it stand for 5 minutes. Stir until smooth, then mix in 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter.
- Once the cakes are completely cooled, spread ganache between the layers and over the top and sides of the cake.
