Description

A rich and moist chocolate cake enveloped in a velvety ganache, perfect for celebrations or satisfying your sweet tooth.


Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until smooth. Carefully stir in the boiling water; the batter will be thin.
  4. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool for 10 minutes in the pans before removing them to cool completely on a wire rack.
  5. For the ganache, heat the heavy cream in a saucepan over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate and let it stand for 5 minutes. Stir until smooth, then mix in 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter.
  6. Once the cakes are completely cooled, spread ganache between the layers and over the top and sides of the cake.

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream and fresh berries for a delightful presentation.
