Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. In a separate saucepan, warm the milk and butter until melted. Let cool slightly before adding to dry ingredients.
  2. Add the warm milk mixture and egg to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  5. Once the dough has risen, roll it out into a rectangle. Spread the chocolate chips and cocoa powder evenly over the dough, then roll it into a log, sealing the edges.
  6. Twist the log into a wreath shape and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Let the wreath rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool slightly, then drizzle with a mixture of powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding a teaspoon of espresso powder to the chocolate filling. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days, or freeze for up to a month.
