Description
A show-stopping dessert combining rich chocolate flavor with a beautiful, festive presentation, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. In a separate saucepan, warm the milk and butter until melted. Let cool slightly before adding to dry ingredients.
- Add the warm milk mixture and egg to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth, about 5-7 minutes.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
- Once the dough has risen, roll it out into a rectangle. Spread the chocolate chips and cocoa powder evenly over the dough, then roll it into a log, sealing the edges.
- Twist the log into a wreath shape and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Let the wreath rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly, then drizzle with a mixture of powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding a teaspoon of espresso powder to the chocolate filling. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days, or freeze for up to a month.
