Ingredients
Scale
- 4 beef cube steaks
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
- Gravy (optional)
Instructions
- Tenderize the cube steaks using a meat mallet, then soak them in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix well.
- Remove the steaks from the buttermilk and dredge in the flour mixture until evenly coated.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat and fry the steaks for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Drain the steaks on paper towels and serve hot, with gravy if desired.
Notes
For extra tender steak, let it soak in buttermilk overnight. Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to avoid greasy steaks.
