- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup carrots (sliced)
- 1 cup celery (sliced)
- 1 cup onion (chopped)
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder

- 1/4 cup butter (melted)
- 3/4 cup milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Parsley (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- In a large pot, combine the chicken, chicken broth, carrots, celery, and onion. Bring to a boil, then simmer for about 20 minutes. Remove and shred the chicken.
- In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the melted butter and milk to form dough.
- Drop spoonfuls of the dumpling dough into the broth. Cover and cook for about 15 minutes until the dumplings puff up.
- Return the shredded chicken to the pot, season with salt and pepper, stir gently, and heat through for an additional minute. Garnish with parsley if desired.
Notes
Use homemade broth for enhanced flavor. Feel free to add additional vegetables like peas or green beans.
