Ingredients

- 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
- Optional: 1/2 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- Cream the unsalted butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, salt, and baking powder.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until just combined.
- If desired, fold in chopped nuts and chocolate chips.
- Spread the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Allow to cool in the pan before cutting into bars.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or refrigerate for a week. Freeze for up to 3 months.
