Description

A delightful, savory dish perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a cozy dinner featuring layers of bread soaked in a rich egg mixture with broccoli and cheddar cheese.


Ingredients

  • 6 cups of cubed bread
  • 2 cups of chopped broccoli
  • 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté broccoli until tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, mustard, salt, and pepper.
  4. Layer half of the cubed bread in a greased baking dish. Add sautéed broccoli and half of the cheddar cheese, then layer the remaining bread cubes and top with the rest of the cheese.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the layered bread and broccoli, ensuring even coverage.
  6. Let sit for about 15-20 minutes to soak.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden and the egg is set.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Use stale bread for better absorption of the egg mixture. You can customize with different cheeses or additional vegetables.
