Description

Homemade breadsticks that are crispy on the edges and soft and chewy in the center. Perfect as a side for pasta or soups.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup warm water (about 110°F/43°C)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Garlic powder (optional)
  • Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Herbs (optional, like oregano or basil)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. Add the warm water and olive oil into the dry ingredients and stir until a dough begins to form.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  6. Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick.
  7. Cut the dough into strips about 1 inch wide and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Sprinkle optional seasonings like garlic powder and Parmesan cheese on top.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown.
  10. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

These breadsticks can be customized with various toppings and herbs. Store leftover breadsticks in an airtight container.
