Description

A rich and nourishing homemade bone broth, perfect for soups, sauces, or enjoyed on its own.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds of beef bones (or chicken bones)
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 4 cloves of garlic, smashed
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • Water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional herbs (parsley, thyme, bay leaves)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Place the bones on a baking sheet and roast them for about 30 minutes until browned.
  3. In a large pot, combine the roasted bones with the onion, carrots, celery, garlic, apple cider vinegar, and optional herbs.
  4. Fill the pot with enough water to completely submerge all the ingredients.
  5. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 12 to 24 hours, adding water as needed.
  6. After simmering, strain the broth through a fine mesh sieve into a large container.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Let the broth cool completely before refrigerating or freezing it for later use.

Notes

For richer flavor, use bones with marrow and joints, like beef knuckles or chicken feet.
