A rich and nourishing homemade bone broth, perfect for soups, sauces, or enjoyed on its own.
Ingredients

- 2 pounds of beef bones (or chicken bones)
- 1 onion, quartered
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 4 cloves of garlic, smashed
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- Water
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional herbs (parsley, thyme, bay leaves)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Place the bones on a baking sheet and roast them for about 30 minutes until browned.
- In a large pot, combine the roasted bones with the onion, carrots, celery, garlic, apple cider vinegar, and optional herbs.
- Fill the pot with enough water to completely submerge all the ingredients.
- Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 12 to 24 hours, adding water as needed.
- After simmering, strain the broth through a fine mesh sieve into a large container.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Let the broth cool completely before refrigerating or freezing it for later use.
Notes
For richer flavor, use bones with marrow and joints, like beef knuckles or chicken feet.
