Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gradually combine wet and dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Stir in hot coffee or water until the batter is smooth.
- Divide the batter evenly between pans and smooth the tops.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn out on wire racks to cool completely.
- Frost with your favorite frosting.
