Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth.
  4. Gradually stir in the boiling water until well combined.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before frosting.
