Description

A delightful dessert layered with creamy custard, fresh fruits, and light sponge, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 400g sponge cake or ladyfingers
  • 600ml custard
  • 300ml heavy cream
  • 200g mixed berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries)
  • 100g sherry (optional)
  • Chocolate shavings (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. If using sponge cake, cut it into cubes. If using ladyfingers, line the bottom of a trifle dish with them.
  2. If desired, drizzle sherry over the sponge cake or ladyfingers to add a depth of flavor.
  3. Layer half of the custard on top of the cake, followed by half of the berries for a burst of freshness.
  4. Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form, then layer half of the whipped cream on top of the berries for a creamy finish.
  5. Repeat the layers with the remaining sponge cake or ladyfingers, custard, berries, and cream.
  6. Finish with chocolate shavings on top for a decorative touch that adds a little extra indulgence.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to let the flavors meld beautifully.

Notes

Use day-old cake for best texture, and feel free to substitute fruits or cream for variations.
