- 400g sponge cake or ladyfingers
- 600ml custard
- 300ml heavy cream
- 200g mixed berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries)
- 100g sherry (optional)
- Chocolate shavings (for garnish)
Instructions
- If using sponge cake, cut it into cubes. If using ladyfingers, line the bottom of a trifle dish with them.
- If desired, drizzle sherry over the sponge cake or ladyfingers to add a depth of flavor.
- Layer half of the custard on top of the cake, followed by half of the berries for a burst of freshness.
- Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form, then layer half of the whipped cream on top of the berries for a creamy finish.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining sponge cake or ladyfingers, custard, berries, and cream.
- Finish with chocolate shavings on top for a decorative touch that adds a little extra indulgence.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to let the flavors meld beautifully.
Notes
Use day-old cake for best texture, and feel free to substitute fruits or cream for variations.
