Description

Soft and fluffy cinnamon rolls bursting with rich cinnamon flavor, finished with a sweet icing that makes each bite irresistible.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (for spreading)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, heat the milk and butter over medium heat until warm. Remove from heat and stir in the yeast, allowing it to activate for about 5 minutes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Gradually mix in the milk mixture along with the eggs until a soft dough forms.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough until it’s smooth and elastic—about 5-7 minutes. Form the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl, covering it with a towel. Let it rise in a warm place for about an hour, or until it doubles in size.
  4. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a large rectangle. Spread the softened butter over the surface, then sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon evenly on top. Roll the dough tightly and slice it into 12 equal pieces. Arrange these rolls in a greased baking dish.
  5. Allow the rolls to rise again for about 30 minutes. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Once the rolls have puffed up, bake them for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown.
  6. While the rolls are baking, prepare the icing by whisking together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  7. As soon as the rolls come out of the oven, drizzle the icing generously over the warm rolls.

Notes

Store leftover cinnamon rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. For longer storage, refrigerate for up to a week or freeze for up to 2 months.
