Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons oil (coconut oil is preferred)
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/8 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (optional but encouraged)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon Nutella or peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate chips or mini chocolate chips (optional, but encouraged)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk to combine the milk, oil, brown sugar, and vanilla extract to create a sweet, creamy base.
  2. Add the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until the batter is mostly smooth with no dry lumps.
  3. Transfer the batter to a microwave-safe mug. Drop Nutella or peanut butter in the center without stirring. Optionally, add chocolate chips. Microwave for about 70 seconds.
  4. Carefully remove the mug from the microwave and serve immediately, optionally topped with whipped cream or ice cream.

Notes
