Description
A delightful Thai dessert featuring glutinous rice, fresh mango, and creamy coconut sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup glutinous rice
- 1 1/2 cups coconut milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 ripe mangoes, sliced
- Sesame seeds or mung beans for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice for at least 3 hours or overnight.
- Drain the soaked rice and place it in a cheesecloth-lined basket. Steam the rice for about 25-30 minutes until it becomes tender and sticky.
- Combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt in a saucepan. Heat gently over low heat, stirring until the sugar completely dissolves.
- Transfer the cooked rice to a large bowl and mix in 1 cup of the coconut sauce. Let it rest for about 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- Serve the sticky rice on a plate, accompanied by the sliced mango. Drizzle the remaining coconut sauce over the top.
- Garnish with sesame seeds or mung beans if desired. Enjoy your Mango Sticky Rice warm or at room temperature!
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat lightly in the microwave with a splash of coconut milk.
