A beloved Italian classic meat sauce made from ground meats, vegetables, and simmered to perfection.
Ingredients

- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 carrot, finely chopped
- 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 500g ground beef
- 250g ground pork
- 1 cup dry red wine
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup whole milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat until it shimmers.
- Add onion, carrot, celery, and garlic to the pot. Sauté until soft and fragrant, about 5-7 minutes.
- Increase heat to medium-high, then add the ground beef and pork. Cook until browned.
- Pour in the dry red wine and let it simmer for approximately 10 minutes.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes and season with salt and pepper. Bring to a gentle simmer.
- Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for at least one hour.
- Before serving, stir in the whole milk and let it simmer for another 30 minutes.
- Serve the sauce over your favorite pasta and garnish with fresh basil or parsley.
Notes
For a deeper taste, allow the sauce to simmer longer than one hour. Pair with garlic bread and a fresh green salad.
