Description

A beloved Italian classic meat sauce made from ground meats, vegetables, and simmered to perfection.


Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 carrot, finely chopped
  • 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 500g ground beef
  • 250g ground pork
  • 1 cup dry red wine
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat until it shimmers.
  2. Add onion, carrot, celery, and garlic to the pot. Sauté until soft and fragrant, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Increase heat to medium-high, then add the ground beef and pork. Cook until browned.
  4. Pour in the dry red wine and let it simmer for approximately 10 minutes.
  5. Stir in the crushed tomatoes and season with salt and pepper. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  6. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for at least one hour.
  7. Before serving, stir in the whole milk and let it simmer for another 30 minutes.
  8. Serve the sauce over your favorite pasta and garnish with fresh basil or parsley.

Notes

For a deeper taste, allow the sauce to simmer longer than one hour. Pair with garlic bread and a fresh green salad.
