- 1 cup apple cider
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1–2 tablespoons milk (as needed)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a doughnut pan.
- Reduce the apple cider over medium heat until it thickens to 1/4 cup, about 10-15 minutes. Let it cool.
- Whisk together the flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a bowl.
- In another bowl, combine melted butter, egg, vanilla extract, and cooled apple cider.
- Gently combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
- Spoon the batter into the doughnut pan, filling each cavity two-thirds full, and bake for 10-12 minutes.
- Cool doughnuts in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk until smooth.
- Dip cooled doughnuts in maple glaze and let them set before serving.
Notes
Store leftover doughnuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for longer freshness.
