Description

Delicious baked doughnuts infused with apple cider and topped with a sweet maple glaze, perfect for any season, especially fall.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 12 tablespoons milk (as needed)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a doughnut pan.
  2. Reduce the apple cider over medium heat until it thickens to 1/4 cup, about 10-15 minutes. Let it cool.
  3. Whisk together the flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a bowl.
  4. In another bowl, combine melted butter, egg, vanilla extract, and cooled apple cider.
  5. Gently combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
  6. Spoon the batter into the doughnut pan, filling each cavity two-thirds full, and bake for 10-12 minutes.
  7. Cool doughnuts in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  8. For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk until smooth.
  9. Dip cooled doughnuts in maple glaze and let them set before serving.

Notes

Store leftover doughnuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for longer freshness.
